At the beginning of November I joined my first activity since I became a member of Barcelona Travel Bloggers, a trekking tour in Montserrat mountain. Geared up for the occasion, we hoped on the wagon of Trescant in Barcelona, and headed towards Montserrat, one of the most famous mountains near Barcelona.
On our way, the guides from Trescant explained to us our plan for the day and told us many stories and legends regarding the mountains of Montserrat. As a local, I heard many of the stories on my previous visits to Montserrat. Some other were completely new to me. In Montserrat, we rushed in the monastery at an early hour, before dozens of tourists arrived on their buses. Inside the monastery, we paid our respects to Montserrat, asking for a safe hike in the mountain. With all done in the base, we rode on the Funicular up to the mountain. Depending on the hike intensity of the group, the route might be different, shorter, or more difficult. The highlight of the activity is all the knowledge from the tour guides regarding the mountain, animals, plants, history… They know everything! On top of that, the views from high up in Montserrat are just breathtaking.
Walking tours through Catalunya landscapes with Trescant
Though we only made the short trip in Montserrat, Trescant specializes in trekking in many other places in Catalunya, for one or several days. If you’re coming to Barcelona, and want to experience the natural landscapes and mountains, this is the best way.
