Sensoji Honzon Jigen-e festival
Legend says that over 1400 years ago, two fisherman found caught in their fishing net a little statue. They took it to a third man to see it, and he recognized that the statue was of Kannon, and decided to establish a shrine in its honour. That was the origin of Sensoji, in Asakusa. To commemorate the date, every year the night of March 17th the spirits of the three discoverers are enshrined into mikoshi, to be ported around the area of Asakusa the day after. Also, if you have been to Sensoji, you might have noticed there are several ornaments and paintings where dragon appears. On that same day, in the grounds of Sensoji it is celebrated the dance the golden dragon. In this post you can see few of the moments from the celebration in March 2018, and also on my Youtube channel.
