The Oyama shrine, in Kanazawa, shooked me at first glance. It seemed somehow out of place and disturbed my senses.
The main gate is a mix of japanese, chinese and european architecture, that once was part of the entrance to Kanazawa castle. The shrine was constructed in 1599 by Maeda Toshinaga and moved from Mount Utatsu, the East of Kanazawa, to its present location in 1873. All seemed to be out of place, and I got confirmation afterwards thanks to my friend and guide for Kanazawa.
